IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THIRD COUNTRY PROJECTS AND IMPORTING COMPANIES
TRANSITION TO REGULATION (EU) 2018/848 IN THIRD COUNTRIES
Beginning with 1.1.2025 the new EU-Organic Regulation 2018/848 shall be applied on organic products from Third Countries, with destination to the organic market in the European Union, too.
With view to this transition of the certification standard in Third Countries to the new EU-Organic Regulation 2018/848 we highly recommend that organic operators in Third Countries implement the following measures already in the years 2023 and 2024 in order to be well prepared:
- Study of the relevant legislation using the multilingual versions of the EU-legal website EUR-Lex and referring to the AGRECO homepage https://www.agrecogmbh.com/pages/de/aktuelles/neue-oekovo.php
- Creation and implementation of a concept of preventive measures to guarantee organic quality (BioCCP)
- Implementation and maintenance of a traceabilty system down to the individual production level
- Securing a system of product flow plausibility measurement with documentation and proofability
- Acceptance and support in case of the need for an investigation according to art. 29 of Regulation (EU) 2018/848 on residue cases (official investigation in the sense of Reg. 2018/848).
